ARFID: Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder or Extreme Picky Eating

Feeding kids is a tricky business. Picky eating is very normal during the toddler years. Yet, it can be incredibly stressful when you want to feel more confident your child is getting all the nutrients they need to thrive. Food is something we all have to manage every day, all day. When feeding your kids has become a source of conflict and stress, know it can feel less disruptive.

I can’t make your toddler magically eat spinach regularly, but I can help you feel more confident you are doing everything you can to set your squish up to thrive and to have the relationship you want them to have with food... which usually means they are more willing to try new foods. I use SPACE principles to work with parents and caregivers and sometimes can include food exposures with children when I’m doing individual work with them.

If your child is experiencing extreme picky eating, they may have something called ARFID and might need some extra support learning to have a balanced relationship with food. My specialty is helping families feel more confident on that path as a team.
