Parent Consultation
I say often if I ever write a parenting book it would be titled “Trial and Error.” So much of parenting is navigating how your unique kiddo responds best to your attempts to help (and I’m sure your eardrums can attest for the attempts that have not felt successful). Having a professional to help you understand how evidenced based interventions can be tailored to your family is incredibly helpful.
I’m not the expert of your child; you are. I know much about what research indicates regarding rearing children. Together, we can find the best way to help you feel calm and confident even in the trickiest moments (ok, well mostly calm).
I’m extremely passionate about a program called SPACE: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions. This program was developed at Yale Child Study Centers and treats childhood anxiety disorders like Generalized Anxiety Disorders (GAD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD), and Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) without actually involving children. I work directly with you, the parent or caregiver, to help you feel more confident in how to respond to your child’s anxiety in a way that facilitates recovery. I can generally complete a SPACE program with parents/caregivers in 6-10 sessions. You can learn more about SPACE here.
