Individual Counseling for Children, Adolescents, and Teens

Kids are perceptive. They are smart, creative, and sometimes they are infuriating. All kids struggle with difficult feelings at times (so do adults, for the record), but sometimes that struggle feels like it’s taking up too much space for them and for you. When that’s the case and you are wondering how to help them, individual therapy can equip your kiddo with tools to use when feelings get big.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help kids understand how their brains are working, what they can do about it, and to build trust that their feelings are normal (even when they are crying because the purple crayon isn’t purply enough or Suzy is wearing the same purple shirt).

Sometimes it’s hard to know as a parent when things like anxiety, sadness, and stress go from normal developmental experiences to unhelpful experiences or even clinical diagnoses like anxiety or depressive disorders. That’s where I can help.

I involve parents robustly when I’m working with kids. We collaborate together as a team and we may connect every session or every few weeks.
