ARFID: Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and Picky Eating

Feeding kids is a tricky business. Picky eating is very normal during the toddler years. Yet, it can be incredibly stressful when you want to feel more confident your child is getting all the nutrients they need to thrive. Food is something we all have to manage every day, all day. When feeding your kids has become a source of conflict and stress, know that it doesn’t have to feel that disruptive. I can’t make your toddler magically eat spinach, but I can help you feel more confident you are doing everything you can to set your squish up for success and growth and to have the relationship you want them to have with food.

If your child is experiencing extreme picky eating, they may have something called ARFID. They might need some extra support learning to have the relationship with food we all want them to have as they grow. My specialty is helping families feel more confident on that path as a team. Sometimes, doing food exposures or eating therapy is enough to get back on track. Sometimes, it’s not. Especially when you’ve tried different approaches and it hasn’t gone the way you want, I’m here to help.
